Home Sustainability Plan – Path to a Green Home

Home Sustainability Plan

Green Home Remodeling

Path to a Green Home analyzes data provided by homeowners to create a personalized plan of action that they can implement to achieve a sustainable home.

We call this a Home Sustainability Plan.

This roadmap describes the household’s current state of sustainability, highlights the biggest area of waste (“hogs”), and compares actions that can be undertaken by investment level.

The Home Sustainability Plan is a unique service because it is:

  • Personalized (not a “cookie-cutter” plan; based on data provided by the homeowner)
  • Easy to Use (compiled for easy analysis and comparison)
  • Comprehensive (it goes beyond heating / cooling to include food, products, and water)
  • Prioritized (groups actions by impact, effort, and investment)
  • Impartial (independent of specific industries)
  • Financially Grounded (estimates costs and highlights existing incentives)

In a recent presentation, Dean Berg from Path to a Green Home summarizes the structure of the Home Sustainability Plan:

We are passionate about doing our part to combat climate change and tired of feeling paralyzed by an overwhelming amount of information and lack of guidance.  Our home and lifestyle choices are within our control so we decided to start there.  Over the past few years, we were amazed to learn how much our home contributes to climate change and that “painless” changes can make a big difference… especially if we do them collectively.

If you can relate to the following situations, creating a Home Sustainability Plan for your family may be the solution:

  • You want to help reduce climate change, but don’t know how.
  • You don’t know how much your home impacts your contribution to climate change.
  • You don’t know which aspects of your home have the biggest impacts.
  • You are wondering what you can do with an ‘old’ house. Or wonder if your ‘newer’ house is energy efficient or sustainable?

The Home Sustainability Plan will provide you with a roadmap – a personalized plan to help you work towards sustainability within your home.
